Mable remembered her husband's words as she ascended the creaking staircase, 'Don't go upstairs, Mable. Promise me you won't go upstairs.' But she had to know what was making that god-awful noise. It sounded like something was dying. Slowly, inch by inch, she crept closer and closer to the source of the noise until she stood outside the door of the barn. She hesitated for a moment before turning the knob and throwing the door open. What she saw inside made her wish she had listened to her husband. There, in the middle of the room, a creature unlike anything she had ever seen before. It was thrashing about on the floor, covered in its own blood and guts. Mable let out a scream as she stumbled backwards, tripping over a chair and landing in a heap on the floor. The last thing she saw before she passed out was the creature's beady black eyes staring at her from across the room.
